Q1. How do your products represent social group discussions?
The main social issue discussed in our music video “Bad Guy-Anam Aqeel'' is about people indulging in fake behaviour. It pokes fun at the way people present themselves; shows how people constantly try to create a fake persona in order to deliver a different version of themselves that completely contradicts their actual personality and frame-of-mind. The way the artist portrays messages through her music is in a very sarcastic tone which almost challenges these people. We don't always catch people announcing their misdeeds and wrongdoings that they are not proud of. Our music video portrays Anam impersonating people who fake their behaviour, shining a light on the people who keep trying to convince others through speech that they are a certain type of way when in actuality people can see right through their act, if they were who they say they are, they wouldn't have to keep proving it, as actions speak louder than words. Throughout the music video Anam is seen in different outfits which shows different personas she has to keep up with. For example, there are various shots in which Anam acts as a felon in prison attire, she's holding the plate which indicates her arrest. The flash effects create a mise-en-scene indicating that her mugshot is being taken. The bright, bland lighting, her dry makeup and messed up hair all indicate the situation of her trying so hard to keep up with her ‘bad guy’ image that she got herself arrested. In conclusion this is a music video that shines light on a serious topic in a fun, sarcastic way as this is a topic that may make people feel attacked causing them to react in a defensive way which is why handling this problem in a sarcastic way may create a judgement-free zone for people to comfortably express their true personalities.
